Biography
Mehmet M. Gençoğlu is an attorney registered with the Istanbul Bar Association and the founding partner of Gençoğlu Partners. His practice focuses on corporate and commercial law, dispute resolution and international arbitration, with particular experience in intellectual property, media, entertainment and digital matters. He regularly represents clients before Turkish courts and advises companies on corporate structuring, complex contractual arrangements and strategic legal risk management.
In addition to his core advisory and disputes practice, Mehmet has developed significant experience in the media and entertainment sectors. He advises film and television production companies, artists, content producers and digital platforms on legal and commercial matters, including contractual structures, intellectual property rights and sector-specific disputes. He also represents right holders in litigation relating to the protection and enforcement of creative works and related rights.
Mehmet further advises international technology companies and foreign businesses operating in Türkiye, particularly in relation to regulatory matters, corporate structuring and dispute resolution. Through his work at Gençoğlu Partners, he represents a broad range of clients, including entrepreneurs, investors, artists, content producers and international companies seeking legal guidance in the Turkish market.
His practice sits at the intersection of business, media and digital sectors, combining strategic legal advisory with high-level dispute resolution and international experience.
Born in Geelong, Australia, Mehmet grew up in a bilingual environment speaking both English and Turkish. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law, one of Türkiye’s most established law schools.
Since his law school years, he has remained actively involved in international arbitration and academic legal initiatives. He founded the Moot Court Society at Ankara University Faculty of Law and has participated in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in various capacities, including as a participant, coach and arbitrator. He has also contributed to arbitration-related academic initiatives and professional events.
